About 826 MSP

OUR MISSION:

826 MSP amplifies the voices, stories, and power of K-12 BIPOC students through writing, publishing, and leadership programs.

OUR VISION:

826 MSP envisions a just and joyful future where young authors create art and make change in a community that values and respects their voices.

OUR VALUES:

Youth Voice: 826 MSP centers BIPOC youth voice and leadership. We believe what young people write matters and we work to amplify their voices to affect change.

Relationships: 826 MSP makes relationships the foundation of our work. We strive to intentionally and sustainably build partnerships with our stakeholders by creating spaces where individual strengths are seen, affirmed, and built on.

Responsiveness: 826 MSP encourages students to bring their full selves to our programs. We respect their identities and honor their journeys as writers. We believe in meeting youth where they are: academically, creatively, and personally.

Creativity: 826 MSP prioritizes joy, play, wonder, and creativity. These are essential components of our spaces, our pedagogy and in our students’ lives as full human beings.

Equity: 826 MSP combats racism and other forms of oppression while holding an intersectional lens. We exist to serve youth who have been marginalized by the failures of our education system. We are dedicated to decentering whiteness and creating a more just world for our youth and collective future.
