Books for Breakfast 2025

Dear Friends,

Save The Date: 2025 826 MSP Books for Breakfast (B4B)
Inspire. Connect. Invest in Young Writers!

Save the date! Our seventh annual 826 MSP Books for Breakfast (B4B) fundraiser will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2025, 8:30–10:00 AM at Soomaal House of Art. This inspiring gathering celebrates the power of youth voices while fueling the programs that make 826 MSP’s work possible. Watch for upcoming details on sponsorship opportunities and ways you can support this meaningful event.

We are also excited to announce that the keynote speaker for the 2025 Books for Breakfast (B4B) event will be none other than the incredible Marian A. Hassan, a Somali-born, Minnesota-based author, educator, and cultural preservationist dedicated to safeguarding Somali oral traditions for future generations. She writes bilingual children’s books, curates folktales, and leads projects such as the Sing-Again Lullaby and Oral History Project, a Minnesota Legacy Cultural Heritage Grant–funded initiative that documents lullabies, rhymes, and parenting stories from Somali elders. Through her work as an educator, she creates spaces for learning and cultural exchange, helping Somali-American youth build biliteracy and cultural pride. By combining storytelling circles, books, and multimedia resources, Hassan works to address language loss and strengthen intergenerational connections, ensuring Somali language, poetry, and oral heritage remain vibrant and accessible.
