August Newsletter

Dear Friends,

As we bid farewell to the warm days of summer, we can't help but look back on the incredible experiences we've shared. This August was particularly special, as we celebrated 826 Day on August 26 and followed it up with a memorable outing to Target Field on August 27.

A Day of Inspiration: 826 Day with Marian Hassan
On August 26th, we celebrated 826 Day, an annual event that brings together our students, staff, volunteers, and parents to celebrate the power of storytelling and creative expression. This year, we were honored to have Marian Hassan, a renowned Somali author and educator based in Minneapolis, as our keynote speaker.

Marian captivated our audience with an interactive and engaging talk that touched on the importance of storytelling in shaping our identities and communities. Her words resonated deeply with our students, inspiring them to embrace their unique voices and perspectives. A heartfelt thank you to Marian Hassan for making 826 Day a truly unforgettable experience.

A Home Run Experience: Minnesota Twins vs. Texas Rangers Game
The celebrations didn't stop there! On August 27th, we took our enthusiasm to Target Field, where students, staff, and broader supporters had the opportunity to attend the Minnesota Twins vs. Texas Rangers game. This outing was made possible through our community partnership with the Minnesota Twins, who have been steadfast supporters of our mission.

A Special Thank You to the Minnesota Twins
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Minnesota Twins for their multifaceted support, which includes an annual financial contribution of $10,000. Their generosity goes beyond financial aid; they also took the time to highlight the work of 826 MSP during the game, bringing attention to our cause and amplifying our impact.

This partnership is more than just a sponsorship; it's a testament to the power of community collaboration. Together, we are making strides in empowering the next generation of writers, thinkers, and leaders.

Looking Ahead
As we transition into the fall season, we carry the inspiration and community spirit from these events with us. We look forward to more opportunities to engage, inspire, and make a difference in the lives of our students and the broader 826 MSP community.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey. Here's to many more celebrations and successes in the months to come!

Warm regards,

Jamal Adam,
Executive Director, 826 MSP
